GLOBAL TENSIONS
Conference in Honor of Ester Boserup

9th & 10th March, 2001
401 Warren Hall

This conference brings together academics, practitioners and advocates to engage in discussion about the current tensions and contradictions within the context of globalization.  Issues of global governance, the functioning of international institutions, and gender and development, as well as questions about financial instability, trade, increasing poverty and inequality, global cities, and resistance provide compelling entry points for deliberation.

The conference is free and open to the public.

A selection of papers given at the conference have been published by Routledge under the title:
"Global Tensions - Challenges and Opportunities in the World Economy"
edited by Lourdes Beneria and Savitri Bisnath
